Fallen Emergency ServiceProvider Program

In the event of emergency service agency line of duty death
or serious injury we can help!

A line of duty serious injury or death is perhaps the most feared of all events a police officer, fire or EMS personnel faces.  While risk may be reduced through better equipment, training, and good judgment, the fact remains that law enforcement, fire fighting and emergency medical services are fundamentally dangerous professions.  Death or serious injury may be the unavoidable result of our actions.

For this reason the Public Safety Officer's Benefit (PSOB) Act was passed in 1976.  The PSOB Program offers a financial benefit to eligible survivors of the public safety officer whose death is the direct and proximate result of a traumatic injury sustained in the line of duty.  A PSOB benefit may also be made in the event of a catastrophic injury on or after November 29, 1990.

The President of the United States has increased the Public Safety Officer's Benefit from approximately $151,0000 to $262,000, effective January 1, 2001.  The 100 Club is currently working on four line-of-duty death files.  The database for this program includes over 6,000 public safety officers from numerous agencies.  This database is maintained by the Buffalo PBA President, Robert P. Meegan, Jr.
